Artist Statement
Photography is a means for me to explore the world. There is a transcendental quality about connecting with something or someone through the camera lens. When photographing I often venture out with no intended purpose, without preconceived notions about how to photograph a particular space or time. It is a reactionary process with the camera to document what I find intriguing and convey a mood of a place. The lens allows me to uncover the unusual, interesting aspects that often otherwise go unnoticed. It becomes a magnifying glass which amplifies what I find beautiful.
This website is a collection of work produced throughout the years from college, graduate school, Peace Corps and now. You will find remnants from my travels abroad in China and Mali, West Africa. Images portraying pieces of landscapes or brief encounters with individuals I met along the way.
This blog will serve as a place holder for my work until I am able to build a site. I am currently taking a web design course and hope to learn enough xhtml and css to construct my own page by the end of the semester. This page will be updated regularly; I am in the process of scanning in film from years past. It is my hope to write more and conceptualize the images shown. Check in from time to time to see new galleries upload.
